Retake
Retake is a project that calls into question the authenticity of people’s behavior, particularly in social situations. The interaction of the duplicated subjects in a common space invites the viewer to question notions of the self and its layers.
By bridging the gap between still and moving images, these looped scenarios enable the audience to scrutinize the slightest shifts and analyze them.
The constant repetition of the gestures distorts even the most natural of movements.
By intentionally isolating and animating certain parts of the image, the artist creates a dichotomy between the authentic and the constructed.
As a whole, the work blurs the lines between performance and reality, the spontaneous and the staged.
